After having to re-schedule a few times, we finally made it to Cafe 999 at Doha Fire Station this weekend. 👫I had been dying to try it since I saw their Facebook page with pictures of nutrition shots and Falafel sandwiches, inducing serious hunger pangs.
But I had disappointment waiting for me when I walked in (#dramaqueenalert 🙅) – they were out of the Falafel sandwiches!!! Pretty much what I went there for! The other dinner options were mostly non-veg, and I was not happy. The only thing that stopped me from going elsewhere (yes I’m a fussy eater, we have already established that) was the amazing weather and I was really looking forward to sitting in their outside seating area and having a nice quiet meal with Faisal.
So we stayed, and I ordered the Veg Lasagna. I even opted out of the nutrition shot because I had a feeling the lasagna would be heavy enough. In all honesty, it wasn’t bad taste wise – but it was marked as the healthy option, which it clearly wasn’t. It had a lot of greens but coupled with layers of cheese, the health factor pretty much goes went the window. Plus, cheese is not a friend to somewhere who just spent 2 hours at the gym, and is certainly not plant-based.
Calling all Doha restaurants: 📣We need more plant based options here please!! I walked out unsatisfied and unless it’s just for tea or a snack, I doubt I’ll be hitting the place anytime soon again. For anyone who is not a health-nut like me, I’m sure you’ll like the place, Faisal liked it too actually , but it just wasn’t for me.
